What is an anchor text?

An anchor text – or anchor text – is the text on which a link is placed. This is important for Google and the visitor. An anchor text is important for the usability of your website, but also for your link building.

Use a relevant anchor text

Avoid the terms ‘click here’ or ‘read more’ when posting a relevant link to a web page. Google reads the anchor text and uses it to determine relevance and value. The link “Online marketing consultancy Monkeybridge” is much more relevant and describes the value better than “click here for our homepage”.

So use relevant anchor texts for both internal links and external links and you will see that Google will appreciate this!
